Poppies in the Field

Poppies 4 X 4 X 1/2 inches. Acrylic on wood.
Painted with Remembrance Day (observed on 11.11.11) in mind.

In Canada and other countries we wear poppies on our lapels this time of year to remember & honour our veterans.

The tradition comes from the poem In Flanders Fields written by Canadian WWI Doctor John McCrae.

In observing Remembrance Day we promise to never forget the sacrifice veterans have made for us. We promise to uphold and honour the peace we have because of their service.
