Sewing a Pink Patchwork Purse

A little patchwork purse in pink, sewn using small strips and squares of fabric. After stitching in the zipper & assembling the bag, white buttons with pink stripes were added for a cute handmade touch.

It's not hard to make a bag like this. There are so many cute and useful small things that can be sewn in patchwork. And the benefit of small is the project doesn't take too much time. Joelle Hoverson's (sponsored link) Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts is a helpful and inspiring book for sewists of all stripes looking to complete a project in one sitting.
The book has lovely photos and a wide variety of projects that are separated into how long they will take to complete - a nice touch. The instructions are specific and detailed, everything you need to know to make a successful finished piece (be it gift or not!). Many projects combine machine and hand stitch which is great too. Yay for handmade!
