Seagull Bird Folk Art Softie

Albert Gull is a Folk Art Doll. He's 4.5 inches tall.

 Seagulls are always on the hunt for a meal and Albert has placed himself in a feed sack. Score!

 A rare indoor sea bird, he's a softie made of fabric that has been stitched, painted & stuffed.

 A little bit serious and a great listener, Albert Gull hopes to become a stalwart friend.

This Crow Doesn't Smile

Meet Keytoo. A prim soft sculpture crow made of painted fabric, he sits on a wood spool wrapped in fabric and twine with a black button.

 He's a serious folk art doll with a touch of attitude. Master of the glare, this bird rarely smiles.

 At just over 4 inches tall and almost 7 inches long, Keytoo Crow is big enough to make his presence known wherever he goes.

Cheery Little Bluebird

Celeste Folk Art Bluebird 2.75 inches tall. She's a Soft Sculpture bird made of painted fabric with wire legs.

 

She's pretty tiny, fitting into the palm of a hand. With heavy wire legs, she stands in a permanent slightly coy pose, leaning slightly to the right.

The aged & weathered appearance of her blue body is created with layers of paint. Her body is soft with an almost leathery feel. She is a bird who has been stitched and stuffed until just right.

In all her tiny bird glory she is a 3 1/4 inch long bluebird with a gleam in her eye and smirk on her orange beak.

Stitching in the Round

Stitched Orb Trio

Hand Embroidery on fabric.

 It started with three colors of embroidery floss and a small piece of coffee dyed fabric. 

Strips of the fabric were wound around and stitched in place and then the freestyle embroidery stitches were added.

Two balls are 1 1/2 inches and one is 2 inches.

 Stitching on a round surface is a nice variation to traditional flat embroidery.

Little Brown Bird

Wren Freestyle Embroidery on eco felt. 2 1/2 inches long.

Common brown birds including sparrows, wrens and finches can often be overlooked because their plumage is plain.

 While they're not flashy, little brown birds are as beautiful and as varied in their markings as any other colorful bird.

Here's to plain brown wrappers.
