Lavender Bird

A love of texture and imperfection led to this prim softie, Violetta Bird. She is 3.75 inches tall and 5.5 inches long.
The bird's body is made from vintage fabrics with lots of colorful hand embroidery embellishments in lavender, rose, yellow and cool turquoise.
Hand stitched together with love, Violetta bird is plump, purple and pretty, thus her nickname P-cubed.

Slate, Charcoal, Driftwood

A study in gray and shades of grey, this 6 X 6 abstract painting The Calm celebrates the cool that is gris.

Grey, or gray to Americans, is just Black
with a bit of White.
Simple.

But a further look shows the complexities and subtleties of this interesting non-color.

A few of the many shades of grey: Charcoal, Cadet, Glaucous, Slate, Gainsboro, Driftwood, Ash, Battleship, Taupe, Cool, Silver, Timberwolf, Gunmetal, Rain, Hippo, Quaker, Dove, Beaver, Pewter.

Known under lots of names, my look at grey has shown the wealth of possibilities. No drab or dull to be found. Just cool, very cool.

Dictionary Poem: Magnetic to Maid Marian

Stitching in red and off-white on a dictionary page made for some great found poetry in this piece titled Magnetic Maid Marian.

Bird's Eye View

This tiny fiber art piece, Aerial, is inspired by the bird's eye view. In hand embroidery on a needle felted background, it is 2 1/2 X 3 inches.

Turning the soil in my vegetable garden in preparation for planting little rows of seeds had me thinking of the warmer weather and everything it brings. It's not here yet, but for now I can stitch it to life.

Here's to blooms, brighter days and breezy afternoons.

Needle Felting and Hand Embroidery in Violet

This fiber art piece, Violet Light, in shades of purple, blue and brown, combines hand embroidery and needle felting.

Grey Day

The rainy weather has made for grey days, but that's not a bad thing. With the color of the sky on my mind I've made two pieces in grey:
This is Francoise the Greylag Goose, a softie made of felted wool. Francoise has tuxedo chest markings and a tuft of crazy black hair. The wool makes for a touchably soft goose.
And this is a journal in various shades of grey.  Made of needle felted and machine stitched wool and acrylic fibers. The felted piece is adhered to the front of a softcover moleskine journal. It looks and feels like a comfy sweater.

Here's to making the best of grey days.

About A Brain

The brain is outlined in white with additional stitch detail in the cerebellum, or little brain. The paint part of the piece is an explosion of multicolored cranial activity within. The brain is surrounded by green, representing the earth, the without, or outside, world.

The combining paint and stitch continues inside (or within) peaceofpi studio.
