Free-Motion Embroidery Fiber Art Quilt

Inspired by open grassy fields and fertile arable land, this fiber art quilt features silk fabrics with hand beading and free-motion embroidery stitching.

The title of the piece, taken from poet Thomas Gray's renowned Elegy written in 1751 is slowly o'er the lea, hinting at rest and the slow contented pace that nature can provide.

It's part of the Silk Threads series, fiber art quilts created using sari silk remnants. This quilt is the ninth in the series.

Sari Silk Fiber Art Quilt

This fiber art quilt, Sari Silk Skies is hot & spicy in pinks with purple and gold.

To create the art quilt, ribbons of sari silk were needle felted creating texture and plenty of untamed loose threads. Stitching and hand beading were added for even more varied surface textures.

Hot & Spicy is the eighth in the Silk Threads series, a group of fiber art pieces incorporating remnants of Indian sari silk.
