Sewing a Quilt as You Go Purse

This fun and colourful purse was created without a pattern in the quilt as you go (QAYG) style.

It started with two square shaped pieces of batting with a curve cut out for the top shape. The batting was backed with a canvas weight fabric for extra structure. The fabric pieces were added piece by piece and quilted as you go.

After the quilting, a few pretty little birds were stenciled on for added fun.
The purse was assembled with lining in red with big white polka dots. The boxed bottom was sewn for roominess. A long zipper was sewn in as the top closure and solid black straps were added.
It was a fun project resulting in a unique one of a kind quilted bag.
